The Fred Parks Distinguished
Lecture Series at South Texas College
of Law was created in 2003 to posthumously
honor Fred Parks, a 1937 graduate, whose many
gifts have played a vital role in developing the
academic environment at South Texas. The annual
lecture series examines not only traditional legal
education, but also that which exists beyond the
confines of the law school.
An entrepreneur and attorney, Mr. Parks
practiced law in Houston for decades. His was
a solo practice concentrating on civil litigation,
including family law. Later in life, he became
involved in mass transit and transportation-related
business development.
