South Texas College of Law presents award winning film: Hot Coffee: Is Justice Being Served?

Free event approved for 2.5 hours of CLE

On Thursday, November 15, South Texas College of Law and prominent Houston attorney Howard Nations will host a viewing of the highly acclaimed documentary Hot Coffee: Is Justice Being Served? The 90-minute film is an eye-opening look at how corporations spend millions of dollars on propaganda to convince the public that the courts are broken. Hot Coffee examines the effect of tort reform on ordinary citizens who have given up Constitutional rights without even knowing it. Using the infamous McDonald’s spilled coffee case that resulted in a $2-million jury verdict, the film seeks to set straight the complete facts behind the media attention and public relations campaign.

Hot Coffee was produced and directed by Susan Saladoff, a former public interest lawyer. The film has been shown across the globe to audiences at movie theaters, law schools, universities, and churches. Hot Coffee earned a 2012 TV Academy Honors award, has been shown on HBO, and garnered top honors at numerous film festivals. South Texas College of Law is pleased to host the screening of this documentary and the audience-led interactive panel discussion.
