July 23, 2008—South Texas College of Law adds five professors to the fall teaching line-up. Hired as a permanent addition to the faculty, Matthew Festa will teach property and land use classes. Festa, who taught as a visiting professor during the 2007-08 school year, joined South Texas after teaching at the University of Georgia School of Law where he focused on land use planning and civil procedure, and is a former associate with Locke Liddell & Sapp LLP in Houston. He holds a B.A. in history and English from the University of Notre Dame, a M.P.A. from Murray State University, a M.A. from Vanderbilt University, and his J.D. is from Vanderbilt University Law School.
The Fred Parks Distinguished Chair will be filled this fall by Professor of Law and Dean Emeritus of the University of Missouri-Columbia Dale A. Whitman. Whitman will teach property and real estate development, areas he has written on extensively including service as a reporter for the American Law Institute’s Restatement (Third) of Property. He holds degrees from Brigham Young University and Duke University and has taught at the University of North Carolina, University of Washington, and University of Missouri-Columbia.
Three visiting faculty members bring a wealth of experience to the classroom in the areas of torts, corporations, and legal research and writing:

Andrea L. Johnson is a professor of business corporations and agency and partnership law, and is the director of the Telecommunications and Intellectual Property Law Center at California Western School of Law in San Diego. She is a graduate of Howard University and Harvard Law School.
Andrew D. M. Miller comes to South Texas from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and will teach torts and evidence courses. Miller is a former associate at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey in Columbus, Ohio and clerked for two federal judges: George King in Los Angeles, California and Reynaldo Garza in Brownsville, Texas. He is a graduate of Ohio University College of Business and the Ohio State University Michael E. Mortiz College of Law.
Paul S. Miller comes from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he taught Legal Research and Writing. He will teach the same at South Texas this fall. He is a former associate at Stull, Stull and Brody in New York City and has over 10 years experience as a librarian. In addition to his J.D. from Fordham University, he has bachelor and master degrees in Fine Arts (sculpture) from the University of Texas at Austin and the Tyler School of Art, Temple University respectively.
