Rule 294. Polling the Jury (1973)

Either party shall have the right to have the jury polled. When a jury is polled, this is done by reading once to the jury collectively the general verdict, or the special issues and answers thereto consecutively, and then calling the name of each juror separately and asking him if it is his verdict. If any juror answer in the negative where the verdict is returned signed only by the foreman as a unanimous verdict, or if any juror shown by his signature to agree to the verdict should answer in the negative, the jury shall be retired for further deliberation.

Amended by order of Oct. 3, 1972, eff. Feb. 1, 1973: The last sentence has been rewritten to provide that the jury shall be retired for further deliberation if any juror answers in the negative where the verdict is returned as a unanimous verdict or if any juror shown by his signature to agree to the verdict answers in the negative.
